PRIVACY POLICY FOR Measure! Everything! App
This Privacy Policy applies to use of the Measure! Everything! App (the "App"), available by download from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. The App is owned and operated by MathTalk, PBC ("MathTalk"). MathTalk makes available in the App an online mathematics-focused gaming experience (the "Services") that can be used by parents, caregivers, teachers, and others to introduce individual children and groups of children to the concept of measurement. MathTalk is committed to ensuring the privacy and accuracy of the information collected in the App. This Privacy Policy identifies the information that MathTalk collects from users of the App and describes how we will use the information we have collected.
WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?
In order to access some or all of the Services available on the App, MathTalk collects the following data:
User Data: Before you can use the Services you will either need to register with us or create a user profile. To register, we require that you provide us with certain information, including name, email address, and an optional zip code. To create a user profile, you will need to provide a name and child age; and the option to provide a photo. Child photos are not stored on external servers of any kind, they remain only on the user’s device.
As part of the registration process, you will need to provide email and a password that will allow you to use our Services and access the controlled areas of the app. Do not disclose, share, or allow any other party to use your password. If you become aware that your password has been lost or stolen or is being misused, notify MathTalk immediately. You can contact MathTalk by emailing us at [email protected].
Child Data: In connection with the creation of child profiles, adults will be asked to provide certain information about the children. This information may personally identify the child or children, depending on what information the user chooses to provide (including child photos, first name, last initial, and/or age. MathTalk does not request, require, or intentionally collect any information from users that may be considered personally identifiable information (PII). MathTalk does not solicit or accept such information from individual students or any users who are under the age of 18.
A. How We Protect and Secure Your Information
- Data Storage and Security: The secure data center that houses all child and user information is on a private network, and the information is maintained in an encrypted format. Access to the network is strictly controlled and has industry standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards in place. Child progress within the app is maintained within each child’s individual profile.
- Disclosures: The uses and disclosures of child data are in compliance with state and federal laws designed to protect such information.
B. How We Use the Information We Collect
Only for Authorized Purposes. MathTalk does not use any information collected for anything other than authorized purposes.
- 1(a) User Data: We will use the user information you provide to register your account and determine which profiles you are authorized to access, update, view, and/or modify. We will also use User Data to notify you of updates to the Site and our Services, and to contact you if we need more information.
- 1(b). Child Data: Information that users provide about their child/children is used to set up and maintain profiles and to allow users to track progress within the app. Usage data may be used to identify and recommend appropriate activities or adventures. We also may aggregate the profile data, with all personally identifying information about individual children and registered users removed, to generate usage reports and conduct user experience research. From time to time we may publish the results of the aggregated, de-identified Portfolio Data. In no event will any such results permit the personal identification of children and their parents.
C. When and How We Share Information
- Only for the educational purpose of the work. We do not share information for advertising or anything else outside of the educational purpose of the collection. We will not disclose any of the user data or profile information we collect to any third parties except as described above and in the following limited circumstances:
- 1(a). We will disclose the data we collect if required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that disclosure is necessary (a) to obey the law or comply with legal process served on us or our affiliates; (b) to protect and defend our rights or property or the rights or property of other users of our Web site; or (c) to act in an emergency to protect the personal safety of users of our website or the public.
- 1(b). If we sell our company or its assets, we may transfer the data we collect to the purchaser so that the purchaser can continue to provide services to you. The purchaser will be bound by this Privacy Policy.
- We do not sell your data. MathTalk PBC does not and will never sell any data that has been collected through the app, under any circumstances.
D. Correcting Information You Have Provided Us
Registered Users can manage the information they have entered. Our users are able to manage and modify the information that they provide to us. If you wish to correct or change any of your user information you may do so by logging onto the App and updating or correcting the User Data. You may change any of the child profile information you have provided by logging into the app and modifying the applicable student profile. You can also delete your registered profile and/or the profiles of your child/children. Only the registered user who created the profile will have the ability to modify the profile information for a child. E. Privacy Incident Response
- We will provide a timely and thorough response. MathTalk has an internal protocol in place that governs any incident related to privacy. This protocol ensures that any potential incident triggers a timely response and a thorough review of the incident. Upon identification of an incident, our staff implements a rapid response program. We will provide a 72-hour notification window for any breaches, and rapid response protocols are built into the design of the product, allowing us to quickly identify problems and notify impacted customers.
- Communication. We will always ensure that our partners and users are aware of actual privacy breaches. Even during our response activities, the users’ privacy is of the utmost importance.
F. Links to Third-Party Sites
- External links. The app may contain links to other websites or refer you to other resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such websites or resources, and you should refer to such websites and resources for information about how such sites and resources protect the information they collect.
G. Feedback & Tracking
- Feedback Data: We use the Feedback Data to respond to your inquiries or requests.
- Tracking Information: We use the anonymous information we collect to administer our App, improve our services, determine how the App is being used, identify popular areas of the App, and analyze trends and usage patterns. This anonymous information cannot be used to personally identify you or a student.
H. Changes to Our Privacy Policy
MathTalk may modify or update this Privacy Policy from time to time, so you should review this page periodically. If we change the policy in a material manner, such as seeking to use personal information in a materially different way than we had previously, we will provide at least 30 days notice to our users so that you have sufficient time to evaluate the change in practice.
I. Disclaimer of Liability
The information contained herein reflects the privacy policy and practices that MathTalk has adopted for the App. Any amendment will become effective immediately upon posting within the App. Neither MathTalk nor any of its affiliates, employees, or agents shall be held liable for any improper or incorrect use of the information described and/or contained in the App and assumes no responsibility for anyone’s use of the information.
